Week 5 of the high school football season saw some strong performances by area teams and players.

Who had the best performance? Vote for the top athlete of the week. Voting will be open all week online.

Here is a little more about each candidate:

Amari Powell, Holland

Senior quarterback returned to the lineup after an injury and threw three touchdown passes, ran for another and was named homecoming king as the Dutch won their second game of the season.

Kayden Forbes, West Ottawa

Senior running back rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns in a game against Caledonia.

Will Grant, Holland Christian

Led the Maroons defense with nine tackles in a 21-20 win over East Grand Rapids in a stunner.

Coby Miller, Zeeland East

Receiver returned a punt for a touchdown to get the Chix rolling in a big win over Wyoming.

Cass Stanberry, Saugatuck

Quarterback rushed for four touchcdowns and 119 yards and also threw for a touchdown. On defense, he had nine tackles, including three for losses, and two pass breakups in a win over Delton Kellogg.

Trinity Solis, Fennville

Scored two rushing touchdowns as the Blackhawks earned their first win of the season, 40-0 over Tekonsha in 8-player football.

Brooks Hawkins, Hamilton

Scored a touchdown in a game against Forest Hills Northern.
