BATON ROUGE — Through three games, the No. 7 LSU women’s basketball team hasn’t been challenged. And that trend should continue throughout its opening stretch of nonconference games.
Kim Mulkey and the Tigers (3-0), who have won their first three games by a combined 307-124, play host to Murray State (1-1) inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Friday night.
Stars Flau’jae Johnson, Aneesah Morrow and Mikaylah Williams have been as advertised out the gate for LSU this season. Johnson is averaging 22.3 points per game, along with 7.3 rebounds. Williams is scoring 19.7 points and netted 5.3 rebounds per game. Morrow has gotten off to a great start on both ends with 17.3 points and 11.7 rebounds per contest.
Murray State came into the season off an WNIT berth last year, losing in the first round in overtime to Southern Miss. The Racers are led by Katelyn Young, who is Murray State’s all-time leading scorer and has compiled more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career.
