Vote: Big Central Conference Readers’ Choice Football Player of the Week poll for Week 5

Welcome to the sixth MyCentralJersey.com’s Big Central Conference Readers’ Choice Football Player of the Week poll of the 2024 season.

Voting closes Thursday at noon.

Please note that the votes don’t always show up immediately. There are lags for the votes to register and a winner isn’t declared until hours after the poll closes.

Max Austin, Bernards

Austin boosted the Mountaineers’ defense in a 28-0 win over South Plainfield. The senior defensive back snagged two interceptions, recovered a fumble and had three tackles, two for a loss in the win. He also had two catches for 23 yards and two carries for 15 yards.

Drew Cella, Hunterdon Central

The junior quarterback shined in a 28-8 win over East Brunswick. Cella threw for 196 yards (9-for-14) and three touchdowns. He also rushed for a touchdown as the Red Devils won their second straight.

Kyle Johnston, Metuchen

The senior keyed Metuchen’s defense in a 29-0 win over Highland Park in its rivalry game. Johnston had nine tackles and 2 1/2 sacks as the Bulldogs snapped a two-game slide.

Brenden Pacheco, Somerville

The senior quarterback had a big day as Somerville beat previously unbeaten Summit 41-0. Pacheco was 7-for 13 for 205 passing yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 68 yards and added another score.

Antonio Sauchelli, North Hunterdon

The junior had a huge receiving day in the Lions’ 22-21 win over Monroe. Sauchelli caught seven passes for 132 yards and all three touchdowns from quarterback Nick Ramaci.

Lenier Whetstone, Edison

The junior stepped in for star running back Nykier Eato and delivered with 174 yards on 31 carries as the Eagles topped Colonia 27-21.
