UConn Dairy Bar plans to celebrate 40th season for Geno Auriemma and Chris Dailey with themed flavors

The iconic UConn Dairy Bar is planning to release new flavors in November in celebration of head coach Geno Auriemma and associate head coach Chris Dailey as they enter their 40th season together at the helm of the women’s basketball team.

“We have a special flavor coming out in honor of the women’s basketball coaching anniversary, 40 years (of) Auriemma and Dailey,” dining services manager Ethan Haggerty told the Daily Campus. “November specials will be themed after them and we are going to have souvenir cups.”

Specifics of the specials will be announced.

UConn will also host a 40th anniversary celebration for the legendary coaching duo during the women’s basketball game against Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 20 at Gampel Pavilion. Every former Husky who played for Auriemma and Dailey has been invited back to campus to attend the event.

Since arriving in Storrs in 1985, Auriemma and Dailey have transformed a UConn team with just one previous winning season into arguably the greatest program in the history of the sport. The Huskies have won an NCAA-record 11 national championships, reached 23 Final Fours, completed six undefeated seasons and won a combined 59 conference regular-season and tournament titles.

A 2006 inductee to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the 70-year-old Auriemma currently ranks No. 2 in college basketball history with 1,213 career wins, just behind recently retired Stanford head coach Tara VanDerveer (1,216). He will pass VanDerveer with a victory against Fairleigh Dickinson if the Huskies win all of their first three games against Boston University, South Florida and No. 15 North Carolina.
