TSSAA football roundup: Georgia football commit Jared Curtis’ 3 TD passes lead Nashville Christian

Georgia football commit Jared Curtis threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns with one interception as Nashville Christian crushed Grace Christian, 49-3, in a rare Monday night TSSAA football game in Nashville.

Curtis was 18-of-30 passing, hooking up with wideout Kaden Grigsby for two touchdowns. Curtis also had 53 yards rushing, including a 27-yard TD run in the first quarter. Brock Haywood and Hudson Smith both rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown as the Cougars improved to 4-1 and 2-0 in Division II-A Middle Region.

Here are results from the Nashville area games in Week 7 of the Tennessee high school football season that featured several Thursday night contests.

Mt. Juliet 26, Antioch 8: Tyler Travers was 14-of-18 passing for 156 yards, a touchdown and an interception while running for another score as the Golden Bears (7-0) stayed unbeaten. Andre Adams was 10-of-21 passing for 104 yards for Antioch (4-3) and scored the Bears’ lone touchdown with 32 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Nolensville 17, Hillsboro 0: The Knights got a touchdown pass and a TD run by quarterback Jack Dever as Nolensville won for the second straight week. Oliver Bender caught a six-yard scoring pass from Dever in the third quarter to extend its lead to 14-0 and JD Kuhlman added a field goal in the final two minutes as the Knights move to 5-2 and 3-0 in Region 6-5A. Sylrelle Burton had a pair of interceptions for the Burros (4-3, 1-1).

Oakland 42, Siegel 7: Kyler Creasy threw for three touchdowns and USC football commit Daune Morris combined for three TDs as the Patriots (7-0, 3-0 in 4-6A) rolled past Siegel (1-6, 0-3). Creasy was a perfect 13-for-13 for 259 yards passing, including a 76-yard scoring pass to Morris in the first quarter. All three of this TD passes were in the first half. Morris added a pair of touchdown runs with 86 yards while Craig Tutt returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown. Chase Bandy caught a pair of TD passes with 88 yards receiving.

Pearl-Cohn 44, Whites Creek 6: Javion Kinnard had 12 carries for 139 yards, three receptions for 85 yards and three touchdowns for the Firebirds’ fifth straight win. Quarterback LJ Funk was 7-for-7 for a 142 yards and three TDs and Omarion Starnes added 14 carries for 113 yards and a touchdown as Pearl-Cohn to 5-2 and 4-0 in 5-4A.

Ravenwood 45, Summit 0: Ravenwood cruised past Summit to improve to 7-0 (3-0 in 6-6A), as Maverick Chance rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns, while completing 2-of-5 passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. Femi Babalola was 3-of-7 passing for 36 yards while rushing for 21 yards and a score for the Raptors. Summit’s Wyatt Grambling was 4-of-9 passing for 44 yards and two interceptions as the Spartans fell to 1-6 (0-3 in 6-6A).

Rockvale 21, Coffee Co. 7: Jaevion Elliott was 16-of-25 passing for 195 yards with two touchdowns and an interception before leaving the game in the fourth quarter with a hip injury. But by then the Rockets (2-5, 1-2 Region 3-6A) was in line for its first league win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Georgia commit Jaylan Morgan had seven catches for 66 yards with a TD and ran for 33 yards on three carries. Deontae Short had a 64-yard TD run and finished with 97 yards on two carries for Coffee County (3-4, 1-2).

Smyrna 36, East Nashville 33: Britten Judkins was 17-of-20 for 181 yards and two touchdowns as the Bulldogs won their third straight game to improve to 4-3 and 2-0 in Region 5-6A. Ryan Carver had 31 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown while Ty McCarver had nine receptions for 109 yards and two TDs. After opening the season 5-0, East Nashville has lost two straight.

Stewarts Creek 35, West Creek 7: Jeremy Smith had eight carries for 128 yards and a touchdown as Stewarts Creek picked up its fifth straight win to move to (5-1). Caleb Floyd had 78 yards rushing and three touchdowns while quarterback Jerry Taylor was 7-of-13 for 119 yards and a TD. Jalen Barnes caught a 61-yard touchdown pass for the Red Hawks.
