As expected, the Texas Longhorns hold at No. 3 in the College Football Playoff Rankings. If the playoffs started today, Texas would be the No. 2 seed in the bracket.

Oregon and Ohio State remained No. 1 and No. 2 respectively. Because Oregon is leading the Big Ten, the Ducks get the first round bye and the top seed, while Ohio State drops down to the 5th seed.

The big story of the rankings is the Big 12 leader is not one of the four highest ranked conference leaders and thus would not get a first round bye. That honor goes to Mountain West leader Boise State.

There are four SEC teams in the bracket and four Big Ten teams. The ACC, Mountain West and Big 12 all have only one representative included in the bracket.
