South Carolina women’s basketball sells out of season tickets for first time

COLUMBIA — South Carolina women’s basketball has sold out of season tickets for the first time.

The team announced Wednesday that a program-record 13,046 season tickets had been sold, which includes all lower-level seats. Colonial Life Arena has 18,000 seats and the remainder of them will be sold on a single-game basis.

The Gamecocks have led the nation in average attendance for the last 10 seasons, roughly around the time when former South Carolina star A’ja Wilson was a freshman. The news release said South Carolina added nearly 2,000 new purchasers this season.

Coach Dawn Staley picked up her third national title in April, when the Gamecocks finished their undefeated season with a 87-75 championship win over Iowa.

Single-game tickets for the 2024-25 season will go on sale the week of Oct. 14, and announced on Tuesday, there will also be a “Fast Break Pass” available to buy with tickets. The pass allows people to avoid door and concession stand lines by entering the arena 30 minutes before doors open for all other ticket holders.

A “Fast Break Pass” is $100 for the season. For specific games, it will cost $12-20 depending on the game. The season passes go on sale on Oct. 11 and single-game passes are available beginning Oct. 18.

South Carolina returns all but one player from last year’s team. Kamilla Cardoso, the former starting center was drafted by the Chicago Sky in April. In her WNBA rookie season, Cardoso scored 313 points (9.8 per game), had 254 rebounds, 54 assists, 46 blocks and 17 steals.
