Shilo Sanders injury update for Colorado football game vs Kansas State

Sep 7, 2024; Lincoln, Nebraska, USA; Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders (21) talks with an official before the game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Memorial Stadium.

Deion Sanders said Tuesday that the Colorado football defense is at full strength for the first time in weeks.

Shilo Sanders is the last missing piece of the Buffaloes‘ starting defense. The team’s leading tackler from last season has been out since Week 2 when he suffered a forearm injury that required surgery.

Colorado has its entire secondary healthy just in time for a Week 7 showdown against No. 18-ranked Kansas State.

“Shilo is ready,” Deion Sanders said Tuesday. “He’s practicing, he’s full go, has a rubber cast on, he’s doing his thing. I can’t wait to see him back there because he and Cam (Silmon-Craig) are unbelievable together.

“We should have the entire starting defense this week.”

Carter Stoutmire started in place of Shilo for the last three games and played well. The sophomore defensive back racked up 13 total tackles (10 solo) during that span and will continue to be a part of the defensive game plan, according to Deion Sanders.

“Carter has done a wonderful job and got a lot of experience,” Deion Sanders said. “He’s in on some packages as well but Shilo is full go.”

The Colorado and Kansas State football game kicks off from Folsom Field on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 8:15 p.m. MT.
