‘Pretty good chance’ Maealiuaki Smith is Oklahoma State football starting QB vs Texas Tech

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State might be turning the page at quarterback, possibly handing the reins to true freshman Maealiuaki Smith in place of Alan Bowman.

Bowman has started all but one game this season, but OSU radio voice Dave Hunziker said in his pregame report that there’s a ‘pretty good chance’ Smith gets the start on Saturday afternoon against Texas Tech.

Smith has appeared in one series in each of the past two games and can play in the final two games without burning his redshirt.

Smit has completed 7 of 10 passes for 103 yards with one interception. He led a touchdown drive late in the loss to Arizona State game three weeks ago.

Hunziker said the starting job has not officially been given to Smith, but it is quite possible the Cowboys go to the youngster.
