OU football vs. Alabama: TV channel, betting line, scouting report for Week 13 game

by admin

NORMAN — With its move to the SEC, OU wanted more marquee home matchups.

The Sooners (5-5, 1-5 SEC) will get that opportunity Saturday when they hosts No. 7 Alabama at 6:30 p.m. at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ABC.

Coming off a bye week, OU will look to secure bowl eligibility with a win.

It won’t be easy, though, as the Crimson Tide have won three consecutive games after their Oct. 19 loss to Tennessee.

Here’s a look at what you need to know about Saturday’s game:

Scouting Alabama

  • Record: 8-2 (4-2 SEC)

  • Best player: Quarterback Jalen Milroe has thrown for 2,232 yards and 15 touchdowns with six interceptions so far this season, and ran for 608 yards and 17 touchdowns. The Crimson Tide has plenty of options in this spot but Milroe’s versatility gives him the honors.

  • The case for Alabama: The Crimson Tide is second in the SEC in scoring offense, averaging 39.5 points per game. It’s beaten Missouri, the team the Sooners just lost to, 34-0, and also beat South Carolina. The Crimson Tide also is second in the SEC in defensive pass efficiency, so it could be hard for the Sooners to move the ball through the air.

  • The case for OU: The Sooners’ backs are against the wall, needing a win either in this one or next week at LSU to earn bowl eligibility for the 26th consecutive season. With some receivers back, and the running game performing better of late, OU’s offense could get a boost, and the defense has played well enough to keep the Sooners in games for the most part. If Jackson Arnold can avoid turnovers, OU could find a way to pull off the victory at home.
