Ohio State football always does a great job of filling a trophy case and this season should be no different. Buckeye center, Seth McLaughlin, was recently named a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which is also known as the Academic Heisman. The prestigious award is annually awarded by the National Football Foundation to the college football player who not only shines on the field, but is also elite academically as well as within the community.

At this point in the season, the NFF has narrowed down its list of finalist to 16, which only includes one other Big Ten player in Dillon Gabriel, the current quarterback of the Oregon Ducks. McLaughlin would be only the third OSU player to win the award joining former Ohio State greats, Craig Krenzel, who won the award in 2003, and Bobby Hoying, who took it home in 1995.

The incoming transfer from Alabama has made a huge impact for the Buckeyes so far this season.
