Kansas Speedway is going to see plenty of NASCAR action this weekend. Apart from the three national series, the ARCA Menards drivers will also be competing at the 1.5-mile track, promising an exciting few days for stock car racing fans around the world. The stakes are at an all-time high, as the opening Xfinity Series playoff fixture will be taking place while the tri-oval will also host the first round of the 12 Cup Series race.

With just five Truck Series races remaining, Kansas Speedway will host the final Round of 10 race at the Kubota Tractor 200 before eight drivers compete for the title at Talladega Superspeedway next week. Everything you need to know about NASCAR at Kansas

If this weekend’s Cup Series action is anything like the race in Kansas earlier this season, we’re in for a blockbuster ride. In-form driver Kyle Larson has the opportunity to do a sweep at the track, having secured a 0.001-second win over Chris Buescher at the 2024 AdventHealth 400. With four drivers having already been eliminated from the playoffs at NASCAR’s highest level, the competition is set to intensify from this point onwards as the remaining 12 drivers look to make it to Phoenix Raceway for a shot at the championship. Kansas Speedway has hosted a playoff race every year since the first postseason was held in 2004 and will continue that tradition this weekend once again.

The weekend’s action will begin with the penultimate ARCA Menards Series race of the season on Friday, 27th September, at 4:30 p.m. CT or 5:30 p.m. ET on the FS1/FOX Sports App. Kansas Speedway is the only venue that hosts two ARCA events in a season, and it will be the series’ 28th visit to the track since 2001.

Shifting attention to the NASCAR Truck Series, the practice session for Kubota Tractor 200 will begin on Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET, followed by qualifying half an hour later, and both can be streamed on FS2. The final Round of 10 race will begin at 8:30 p.m. ET and can be streamed on FS1, while radio channels such as MRN and SiriusXM will also cover the event. There is plenty at stake in the Xfinity Series as well, with the opening Round of 12 playoff race; Kansas Lottery 300, taking place at Kansas Speedway. All eyes will be on Connor Zilisch, who will be making his second appearance in the competition. The 18-year-old won his debut Xfinity race at Watkins Glen International while driving for JR Motorsports and will look to make it two consecutive victories at Kansas Speedway.

The practice session will begin at 11:05 a.m. ET on Saturday, 28th September, followed by qualifying half an hour later. Both will be available to stream on the NBC Sports App. The 2024 Kansas Lottery 300 will take place at 4:00 pm ET on the CW Network and will be covered on radio channels such as MRN and SiriusXM as well. As for the Cup Series, it will be the opening round of 12 races at Kansas Speedway. The practice session will take place on Saturday, 28th September, at 1:05 p.m. ET, while qualifying will take place 40 minutes later at 1:45 p.m. ET. Jimmie Johnson to make a Cup Series appearance

A total of 38 drivers will be taking part in the race, including seven-time Cup Series winner Jimmie Johnson. The 49-year-old’s last appearance was at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he finished 33rd while driving the No. 84 Toyota. Earlier this season, an unfortunate incident with Corey LaJoie forced Johnson to finish 38th at the Kansas Speedway, a result that he will be looking to improve on at the 2024 Hollywood Casino 400. JJ will be making two more appearances before the season ends, as he will compete at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Phoenix Raceway later this year.

Ty Dillon and Kaz Grala will also be making appearances for Kaulig Racing and Rick Ware Racing, while J.J. Yeley will feature for the NY Racing Team for the fifth time.

An important change at NASCAR’s highest level will be that Justin Haley and Corey LaJoie will be swapping rides for the remainder of the season starting at Kansas Speedway. This means that Haley will be behind the wheel of the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevy while LaJoie will be piloting the No. 51 Ford Mustang for RWR.

With seven races remaining before the season ends, the stakes are at an all-time high for Cup Series drivers.
