South Carolina women’s basketball cruised past Memphis for a 106-63 exhibition win on Tuesday night at FedExForum.

The Gamecocks beat the Tigers in the second half of the inaugural Hoops for St. Jude Tip Off Classic doubleheader. Earlier in the night, the North Carolina men beat Memphis 84-76.

Memphis took a 2-0 lead on Alasia Smith’s layup to start the game, but South Carolina quickly answered with a 15-3 run to take a double-digit lead into the first timeout. The Gamecocks, the defending national champions, cruised for most of the night.

Memphis had a bright spot in the second quarter when Jackson State transfer Tilly Boler made back-to-back 3-pointers to cut the lead to eight points. But South Carolina answered back, and the game was uncompetitive in the second half.

There were plenty of standouts for South Carolina. Chloe Kitts had a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Joyce Edwards had a double-double in her first collegiate game. MiLaysia Fulwiley had 10 points before exiting the game with an injury in the second half.
