The college football world received shocking news on Thursday as Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 recruit in the 2025 class, flipped his commitment from LSU to Michigan.
Underwood’s flip comes after weeks of speculation as Michigan reportedly offered the quarterback an NIL package worth $10 million. He stayed committed to the Tigers for 10 months and fans felt confident due to Underwood’s relationship with LSU OC Joe Sloan.
Earlier in the week, Brian Kelly said LSU had to lean on relationships to get the class across the finish line, but Michigan’s offer was enough to pry Underwood from the Tigers.
Now, LSU must do all it can to keep the rest of the class together.
A native of Belleville, MI, Underwood’s decision to represent his home state school sent Tiger social media into a frenzy.
How did LSU Football social media react to Underwood’s decommitment?
“Losing Bryce Underwood is literally code red,” a local Baton Rouge radio contributor wrote.
The Advocate’s Wilson Alexander wrote, “For LSU, it’s vital that Garrett Nussmeier returns next season instead of turning pro.”
“At this moment, Brian Kelly’s approval rating is lower than Ed Orgeron’s ever was,” an LSU fan posted on social media.
How did Michigan Football social media react to Underwood’s decommitment?
“QB No. 1 in the country. Recruit No. 1 in the country.” Barstool founder and president Dave Portnoy posted a video on social media reacting to the news of Underwood’s commitment. An alumnus of Michigan, Portnoy confirmed his involvement in flipping the nation’s top quarterback to the maize and blue.
“YES SIR!” The Wolverines’ head coach Sherrone Moore celebrated the news on X.
“I expect this to have a major impact on how the LSU and Michigan classes close out this cycle,” Chad Simmons, On3 Director of Recruiting, said.
