On Wednesday, Longhorns women’s basketball had a reason to celebrate as they added to their 2025 class. Texas announced the signing of Aaliyah Crump, who is ranked as the fifth-best player in her class by ESPN. The Minnesota native is coming off one of the best seasons of her high school career.

During her junior campaign, Crump averaged 24.4 points and 3.7 steals per game. As Crump shined offensively, she led her team to the 2024 4A State Championship. Due to her play, Crump was named to the watch list for the 2024-25 Naismith Trophy Girl’s High School Player of the Year award.

While Crump’s debut is still months away, the expectations are high. Many on campus, including Texas head coach Vic Shaefer, are excited about what the future holds.

“I’m excited and proud to announce the signing of Aaliyah Crump to our program,”Shaefer told Texas Athletics. “Aaliyah is someone we identified several years ago as a young lady who would continue to develop into an elite basketball player and someone who could be an incredible student athlete here at The University of Texas.”

In Crump, the Longhorns are getting a gifted scorer and a player who has proved herself on the national stage. The talented shooting guard was part of the USA Women’s U16 National Team that won a gold medal at the FIBA Americas Championship. During Team USA’s gold medal run, Crump ranked second on the team in three-point shooting percentage.

With Crump in the mix, the Longhorns futue has become much brighter.
