Lady Vols basketball is off to a winning start in the Kim Caldwell era.
Tennessee (1-0) beat Samford 101-53 in the season opener. Now, the Lady Vols host UT Martin (0-1) on Thursday (6:30 p.m., SEC Network+) at Food City Center.
Junior forward Zee Spearman scored a game-high 25 points on 10-for-12 shooting in the Samford win. Tennessee forced 37 turnovers and scored 50 points off them, but also committed 20 turnovers of its own.
Talaysia Cooper logged 19 points on 8-for-13 shooting, seven steals, five assists, five rebounds and two blocks. Jewel Spear led the Lady Vols in 3-point shooting (4-of-12) and scored 18 points with six rebounds, four steals, two assists and two blocks.
