KENT — Changing the day of the game didn’t change the result for the Kent State football team.
In their first Midweek MACtion game, the winless Golden Flashes lost 41-0 to Ohio on Wednesday in a Mid-American Conference game at Dix Stadium. The Bobcats led 10-0, 20-0 and 34-0 at the quarter stops. Ohio (6-3, 4-1) scored on a 96-yard kickoff return and a 61-yard punt return in the third quarter to break the game open.
The loss spoiled an outstanding game by Kent State safety Josh Baka, who had a career-high 18 tackles, 12 of them solo stops.
Senior running back Ky Thomas led the Flashes (0-9, 0-5) with 50 yards on 15 carries and freshman quarterback Ruel Tomlinson completed 8 of 18 passes for 62 yards in his first start.
Kent State managed just seven first down and was outgained 407-114 in total yards.
