Jarry Notches First Win During AHL Conditioning Stint

by admin

On Saturday morning, Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry was sent to Pittburgh’s AHL affiliate, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (WBS), on a conditioning stint.

And he managed to close out the day on a high note.

The WBS Penguins defeated the Syracuse Crunch, 3-2, and Jarry stopped 32 of 34 shots en route to the win. He staved off a late comeback and surge by the Crunch.

Jarry, who was sent back to Pittsburgh from the Penguins’ Western road trip before their Friday loss in Edmonton, is in the midst of what head coach Mike Sullivan has been calling a “program” to get him back to his best.

Out of the gate, Jarry surrendered six goals to the New York Rangers in the team’s season opener. Involved in a tandem with rookie goaltender Joel Blomqvist, he followed up his Rangers loss with a win in Montreal, and then he was pulled from a game in Buffalo after allowing three goals in the first period.

Since then, the tandem of Blomqvist and Alex Nedeljkovic have assumed duties in the blue paint for Pittsburgh. The goal for Jarry’s conditioning stint – which can last up to 14 days – is that he can put together a good string of games to catapult his confidence when he comes back to Pittsburgh.

Hopefully, this start is a sign of things to come.
