Following a three-year stint with Wood Brothers Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series, Burton will drive the No. 15 Ford Mustang for AM Racing in the Xfinity Series. The announcement, made on Friday morning by AM Racing, states:

“AM Racing proudly announced today that recent Daytona Cup Series winner Harrison Burton will join the organization to pilot the team’s flagship Ford Mustang entry full-time in the Xfinity Series beginning with the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on February 15, 2025,” a press release from AM Racing read.

Burton’s journey in the Cup Series was a mixed bag; while he initially faced challenges with the No. 21 car, he achieved a notable victory by out-dueling Kyle Busch at the Coke Zero 400 in August. Speaking about his upcoming move, Burton explained:

“I’m excited to join AM Racing and help build it into the race-winning race team I believe it can and will be. I think this will be a great opportunity for me to take the things l’ve learned in the Cup Series, bring those to the Xfinity Series and be the best driver I can be.

“It’s a blessing to continue my NASCAR journey, and I intend to make the most of this opportunity.”

AM Racing has utilized a variety of drivers in the 2024 season, including Hailie Deegan and Joey Logano, along with several one-off drivers. By hiring Burton as their consistent driver, AM Racing looks to stabilize and enhance their performance.

As part of the Burton announcement, AM Racing also confirmed its renewed agreement with Roush Yates Engines.

“We are equally proud to continue our strong partnerships with Ford Performance, Roush Yates Engines and HAAS Factory Team. These collaborations have been instrumental in supporting our team’s growth and success, and we look forward to building upon these relationships in the upcoming season. We will continue to invest in this team, our employees and ultimately, our future.”

In the meantime, Burton’s victory in Daytona secured him a spot in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. As he heads into the Brass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, he has one more opportunity to get into the Round of 12.
