The Golden Knights will travel to Los Angeles to take the Kings on Wednesday and will do so without Hague. The 6’6 defender suffered a lower-body injury against the Ottawa Senators after scoring a goal and playing just 9:44.

The 25-year-old was skating on his own today but Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review Journal reported that despite that, he won’t play on Wednesday.

Kaedan Korczak has stepped in for Hague for the past two games and has done everything the team could have hoped for. In his three games this season, the 23-year-old has been on the ice for five Golden Knights goals at 5-on-5 and zero from the opponents. The Golden Knights have outshot, out-chanced and have more high-danger chances with Korczak on the ice according to Natural Stat Trick.

He and Brayden McNabb have formed a formidable defence pairing that is posting excellent results.

The Golden Knights miss Hague’s big body. He has the ability to box out defenders in front of goal, play physical and be an adequate puck mover but the depth the Golden Knights have on their blue line has allowed the coaching staff to feel comfortable sending out any of the eight rostered defenders they have.

There is still no timetable for Hague’s return and the team won’t feel any pressure to rush him back with Korczak playing at the level he’s currently at.
