Two of the best team in Texas high school football will meet Friday night and fans across the states and country can watch it live.

Players committed to or recruited by Texas football and Texas A&M football will take the field as Coppell, one of the top teams in the state, faces a battle-tested Denton Guyer squad filled with Division I talent.

Denton Guyer, MaxPreps’ No. 14 team in the state and No. 86 in the country, comes into the game after a handing a tough Flower Mound team its first loss. Guyer’s only defeat this season came against North Crowley, the No. 2 team in state, per MaxPreps.

Coppell is the No. 8 team in the state with impressive wins over Waxahachie and Sachse. The Cowboys pounded Hebron last week 49-14.

Denton Guyer college football recruits

The Denton Guyer Wildcats have about a half-dozen players headed to Football Bowl Subdivision and that number could grow.

Guyer’s senior class is led by Kevin Sperry, a future Oklahoma quarterback, and three-star defensive tackle Xavier Ukponu. Upkponu is headed to Wisconsin, and several younger teammates are drawing interest from Power Four programs including Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Illinois, Nebraska and Kansas State. The highest ceiling on the team may be that of Khyren Haywood, a sophomore wideout being recruited by Texas, among others. Zane Rowe is a four-star sophomore who committed to Oklahoma over Texas, Georgia and Oregon.

Kevin Sperry, Oklahoma Sooners commit

Sperry, ranked by 247Sports as a three-start recruit, is rated the 33rd-best quarterback in his class and the 69th-best 2025 player overall in Texas. He held offers from a slew of Power Four programs, including Texas A&M, Baylor, TCU, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State and Tennessee. He’s listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds.

Khyren Haywood, Texas Longhorns recruit

Haywood is a 6-1, 260-pound underclassman being courted by multiple power programs.

Coppell college football recruits

Coppell’s also has with FBS potential, including Edward Griffin, a three-star quarterback committed to Baylor. Weston Polk, a three-star linebacker, held offers form North Texas, Houston and Iowa State but is headed to Kansas State. Defensive lineman Titus Roberson committed to Tulsa, but held offers from Grambling State and UNLV.
