Auburn football aims to enhance its offensive production next season by adding the nation’s top running back from the junior college level to its roster.

Waymond Jordan Jr., a running back from Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas, tells On3’s Pete Nakos that several Power Four programs have contacted him, including Auburn. Jordan has heard from several Group of Five programs including Western Kentucky, Utah State, and North Texas. However, his recruitment has taken a turn as programs such as Auburn, Arizona State, UCF, and Duke have joined the mix.

The Pensacola, Florida native is gaining ground with major programs due to his season production at Hutchinson, a JUCO program known for developing its athletes to become key roster pieces at the next level. In 2024, Jordan rushed for 1,332 yards and 18 touchdowns while helping his squad earn a 9-1 record.

He elected to go the JUCO route out of high school after receiving little interest from Power programs during the 2022 recruiting cycle. According to 247Sports, Jordan earned offers from programs including UCF, USF, Jax State, and Missouri, but decided to refresh his recruitment by playing at the JUCO level for two seasons, a decision that has ultimately paid off.

This time, Jordan is the No. 21 overall JUCO recruit according to 247Sports and is considered the top running back from the class. He has scheduled official visits to UCF and USF and could add Auburn to his docket before he decides where the next step of his college journey will be.
