What had been a depressing season of watching sub-par — and that might be too kind — quarterback play for Michigan football fans received a sudden spike of hope Thursday night when Belleville quarterback Bryce Underwood flipped his verbal commitment from LSU to U-M.
Although the early signing period, when Underwood can first make it official, isn’t until Dec. 4, the Wolverines’ fans are already getting excited, with plenty taking to social media on Thursday with memes and jokes (and plenty of exclamation points) to celebrate U-M’s landing of the No. 1 recruit in the country (according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings).
Here are some reactions from around social media:

If Bryce Underwood’s recruiting rating holds through the end of the cycle, he would be the No. 6 quarterback recruit in 247Sports Composite history (since 2000):
1) Trevor Lawrence
2) Justin Fields
3) Bryce Young
4) Vince Young
5) Quinn Ewers
6) Bryce Underwood— Zach Shaw (@_ZachShaw) November 22, 2024
I would prefer if Bryce Underwood ended up like JJ McCarthy and not every other 5 star QB U-M has had since Chad Henne.
