The Nebraska Cornhuskers are bowl-eligible for nearly the first time in a decade after a 44-25 win over the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday evening.

With one week left in the 2024 regular season, the latest college football bowl projections from USA TODAY were released on Monday. Those bowl projections have the Huskers headed to New York City to play the Pittsburgh Panthers in the Pinstripe Bowl. Earlier this season, a trip to New York was a popular projection before the Huskers’ four-game skid.

Nebraska and Pittsburgh have met 24 times but have not met since the 2005 season when the Huskers won 7-6 at Memorial Stadium. The two teams also met in 2004 in Pittsburgh, a 24-17 win for the Huskers. Overall, Pittsburgh has won 15 of 24 previous matchups which saw most of those 24 games be played between 1927 and 1942.

Notably, the Big Ten has four representatives in this week’s College Football Playoff projections with Oregon getting a first-round be while Ohio State, Penn State, and Indiana all earn at-large bids. The projections have the Buckeyes hosting Boise State in the first round, Penn State hosting Tennessee, and Indiana making the short travel to South Bend to take on Notre Dame.

The projections have both Ohio State and Penn State moving on to face projected Big 12 winner Arizona State and projected SEC winner Georgia, respectively. They then have Ohio State facing Oregon in the CFP semifinals and Ohio State facing Georgia in the CFP title game.
