Georgia football injuries: The latest on Christen Miller and others for Georgia Tech game

by admin

Georgia football could go up against rival Georgia Tech Friday night without it’s co-leader in tackles on the defensive line.

Christen Miller left Saturday’s 59-21 win over UMass with a right shoulder injury.

Miller’s 22 tackles is tied with Nazir Stackhouse for most stops for a Bulldogs’ interior linemen.

“He’s banged up,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said Monday. “Didn’t do much yesterday. Don’t know what he’ll be able to do. Still trying to assess…We’ll find out more as the week goes.”

The 6-foot-4, 305-pound redshirt sophomore also has 3 ½ tackles for loss and 1 ½ sacks.

Georgia gave up 226 rushing yards Saturday. The 5.65 yards per carry were the most by an opponent against the Bulldogs since 2016.

Wide receiver Dillon Bell was still in a boot on Saturday after sustaining an ankle injury against Tennessee.

Return man Anthony Evans, who played against Tennessee after missing two games with a hamstring injury, missed the UMass game.

“They both did some stuff yesterday,” Smart said. “I think both of them are going to be good to go and be able to help us. I’ll know more after today’s practice.”

While offensive guard Micah Morris returned in a backup role after missing two games with a leg injury, offensive tackle Earnest Greene (shoulder) dressed out but did not play for the second straight game.

Meanwhile, Georgia is likely to be without running back Trevor Etienne for a third straight game due to injured ribs.

Branson Robinson (knee) and Roderick Robinson (toe) warmed up Saturday but did not play. Smart said Branson Robinson was further ahead.

“Obviously, they ran, but I don’t know how much cutting they did,” Smart said Saturday. “And we’ll continue to work those guys. We’re hopeful to get them back soon.”
