New Mexico State’s men’s basketball team starts a four-game road trip with two games this week, while its women’s team plays just one game at home on Wednesday.
The Aggie men are 3-0 and are looking to start 4-0 for the first time since the 2011-12 season. NM State has defeated New Mexico Highlands, Utah Tech and Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, with the Aggies defeating the Islanders 83-82 in their latest game. Senior guard Zawdie Jackson leads NM State with 16.3 points per game.
The Aggie women are 2-1 after a 75-61 home loss to UTSA last Thursday. The Roadrunners drained 50% of their three-point shots, giving them an advantage against an NM State squad that only shot 33.3% from that same range during the contest. Graduate student guard Molly Kaiser is averaging a team-high 24.3 points per game.
