Penn State football schedule: Time, TV set for road test at Purdue

by admin

Penn State football is expected to be favored to win its final four regular-season games of the season.

That includes a road trip to visit the last-place team in the expanded Big Ten on Nov. 16 − the Purdue Boilermakers. The game at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and will be televised by CBS, Big Ten officials announced today.

The Boilermakers are 1-7 overall this season and winless in the 18-team Big Ten. They began the season with a shutout victory over Indiana State and have proceeded to lose each game since. Only two of those defeats (50-49 to Illinois; 26-20 to Northwestern) have come by less than 17 points.

The Boilermakers play No. 3 Ohio State this weekend before hosting the Nittany Lions.

The No. 7 Lions (7-1, 4-1 Big Ten) have not played Purdue since their late-game escape at Ross-Ade (35-31) to open the 2022 season.

First for the Lions will be to recover and reset their season in preparation for their annual showcase White Out game Saturday. They are coming off yet another excruciating defeat (20-13) to long-time nemesis Ohio State in which they failed to score on a late first-and-goal-to-go from the 3-yard line.

Saturday’s White Out opponent is the Washington Huskies who, at 5-4, are trying to pull themselves out of an early season funk and remain bowl game-eligible in their first season in the Big Ten. The game will be televised only on Peacock, NBC’s subscription streaming service.

The Lions, in particular, will try fix their recent offensive struggles, highlighted by a downgrade in running the football and production at wide receiver. The offense scored just two field goals against Ohio State and needed a late-game spark from backup quarterback Beau Pribula and two fourth-quarter touchdown drives to beat Wisconsin the week before, 28-13.

Penn State star running back Nick Singleton has gained just 90 combined rushing yards in the past three games.
