The St. Louis Blues are taking care of business with their potential restricted free agents early.

After signing forward Jake Neighbours to a two-year, $7.5 million ($3.75 million average annual value) contract on Oct. 22, the Blues signed forward Alexey Toropchenko to a one-year extension for $1.7 million.

Toropchenko, selected in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL Draft, is in the second year of a two-year, $2.5 million ($1.25 million AAV) contract he signed July 15, 2023. The 25-year-old was set to be a RFA next summer.

With Toropchenko signing, it leaves defensemen Pierre-Olivier Joseph and Scott Perunovich and goalie Joel Hofer as potential RFA’s next summer.
