Former child star and Phoenix resident Frankie Muniz is about to live life in the NASCAR fast lane full time.
Many people know the 38-year-old for his portrayal of the titular character in Fox’s hit early 2000s sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle.” Muniz is an avid fan of NASCAR and after over a decade away from racing professionally he made his official return at the NASCAR-owned ARCA Menards Series Championship in February 2023.
Now, Muniz is revving up to take a full-time gig with Reaume Brothers Racing, driving the No. 33 F-150 in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
“Ever since childhood, it’s been my dream to pursue racing in NASCAR,” Muniz said in a statement last year. “I look forward to not only demonstrating my ability on the track and just how serious how I am in progressing in my racing career, but also showing my son and family what it is to chase your dreams and reinvent yourself.”

He fell for racing after attending his first Daytona 500 race in 2001 and got to ride along in the pace car prior to the main event.
Muniz’s professional racing career started in 2006 with Jensen MotorSport for the Formula BMW USA season in Canada. From 2007-2009 he drove in the Champ Car Atlantic Series, where he placed fourth in the championship.
Muniz was forced to walk away from his dream after suffering injuries to his back, ankle and wrist in a crash.
He didn’t go back home to sulk. Instead, he picked up a few acting gigs, toured the world as the drummer for the band Kingsfoil and welcomed his first child, a son named Mauz, with his wife Paige. Yet Muniz couldn’t shake the need for speed.
Returning the world of racing in 2023, Muniz placed fourth in the ARCA Menards National Championship and now he’s headed into full-time racing for 2025.

Muniz will spend time from February to November 2025 participating in races across the country. The main event – the 2025 Craftsman Truck Series – takes place on Sunday, Feb. 2, at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The series will end at the NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona, on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025.
