2017 Rose Bowl hero Sam Darnold will lead USC out of the tunnel vs Penn State

by admin

This will be a special moment. Quarterback Sam Darnold, who led USC to a 52-49 win over Penn State in the epic 2017 Rose Bowl, will lead the USC football team out of the tunnel for this Saturday’s reunion with the Nittany Lions in Los Angeles. It is Penn State’s first visit to USC since that Rose Bowl game nearly eight years ago. Vikings Wire has more on this momentous occasion for Darnold, who is enjoying a career rebirth in Minneapolis:

Darnold will be spending the Vikings’ Bye Week in Los Angeles as he has been invited to lead the team out of the tunnel ahead of their first matchup against Penn State since that Rose Bowl. In that Rose Bowl, Darnold led the Trojans to a victory by passing for a whopping 453 passing yards and five touchdowns.

USC now finds themselves in the Big Ten which makes Saturday’s game a conference game for them. It will be big for them, not as big as a Rose Bowl, but major impact nonetheless. Having Darnold around may give them some of the luck he has had this year, perhaps.

USC needs Darnold’s good luck to rub off on the Trojans, but more than that, it needs the offensive line to protect Miller Moss.
