‘I’m Very Excited For A Good Start’: Miles Wood Ready To Start His 2nd Season With Avalanche

by admin

Miles Wood is ready to start his second season with the Colorado Avalanche against the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday.

“I’m very excited for a good start. You know, try to grow in camp, and just can’t wait for the season start here. I think we’re all pumped for it. So, yeah, can’t wait,” the third-line forward said.

It was a longer-than-wanted offseason for the Avalanche but the 29-year-old forward made the best of it — which will hopefully stand out in his second season in burgundy and blue.

“Had a great offseason with family and friends, but now it’s time to get back to work,” Wood said. “I had some back problems towards the end of last year, so I just concentrated more on that, getting more flexible on my back, and just trying to work that out.”

The opening night lineup will change over the course of the next few months with the impending return of Artturi Lehkonen, Valeri Nichushkin and Gabriel Landeskog. While lines may shift around to find some production, Wood is ready to play wherever and with whoever — if his line with Ross Colton and Logan O’Connor gets broken up.

“The only thing that I can control is my play. I don’t care who I’m playing with. It’s nice playing with those guys, just because I know their game. But at the end of the day, we do have some guys out, and I’m prepared to play wherever Beds (Jared Bednar) wants me to.”

Wood played in four exhibition games and scored one goal on his only shot of the game in the 6-3 loss to the Utah Hockey Club at Ball Arena on Sept. 29. He had a combined 10 SOG in the other three games and was a plus-2 in the 3-1 win vs the Vegas Golden Knights on Oct. 3.
