Former Vegas Golden Knights first-round pick Erik Brannstrom has been traded from the Colorado Avalanche to the Vancouver Canucks.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have acquired D Erik Brannstrom from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Tucker Poolman (20% salary retained) and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

The Canucks sent Tucker Poolman (20% salary retained) and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft for the 25-year-old defenseman. Since the Golden Knights traded Brannstrom as part of the Mark Stone deal, he’s played six seasons with the Ottawa Senators.
In 76 games during the 2023-24 campaign, Brannstrom scored three goals and 20 points.
A once highly touted prospect has struggled to live up to the expectations set for him. He’s become a valued depth defenseman but another team has decided it’s best to move on from him.

After acquiring him the Canucks immediately placed him on waivers. Poolman is currently injured and will be placed on the LTIR for the Avalanche.
Brannstrom will likely serve as the Canucks seventh defenseman and be called up to replace an injured defender if he clears waivers.
