KWC women’s hoops schedule out for 2024-25

by admin

As the Kentucky Wesleyan College women’s basketball team looks to reach the NCAA Division II Tournament for the third straight season and the fourth time in five years, the Panthers now know the road to get there — a schedule that features 20 conference games, 14 home tilts and an exhibition against a familiar Division I opponent.

Wesleyan, following last year’s 21-7 effort, will tip off the 2024-25 campaign against Kentucky State on Nov. 8 at the Sportscenter. The Panthers then host former conference foe Trevecca Nazarene (Nov. 16) before their first road matchup against Missouri-St. Louis (Nov. 22).

The Panthers begin Great Midwest Athletic Conference play with consecutive home games against Lake Erie (Dec. 3) and Ursuline (Dec. 5), followed by a trip to take on Division I foe Western Kentucky (Dec. 11) in Bowling Green. The last time the Panthers faced WKU, the Hilltoppers escaped with a 72-60 win on Oct. 31, 2019.

KWC stays on the road when it jumps back into conference action against defending league champion Ashland (Dec. 14) and Malone (Dec. 16), then ushers in the New Year with a four-game homestand against nonconference opponents Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (Dec. 19) and Missouri Baptist (Dec. 22), and G-MAC rivals Cedarville (Jan. 2) and Walsh (Jan. 4).

Wesleyan then embarks on a four-game road trip to face Lake Erie (Jan. 9), Walsh (Jan. 11), Ohio Dominican (Jan. 16) and Cedarville (Jan. 18), returns home for a trio of matchups against Northwood (Jan. 23), Malone (Jan. 25) and Thomas More (Jan. 29).

The Panthers host one final two-game homestand in the last month, with games against Tiffin (Feb. 6) and Hillsdale (Feb. 8). Three of KWC’s last four games are road tilts.

The G-MAC Tournament will be March 4-8, with the top four seeds hosting quarterfinal matchups and the remaining top seed hosting the semifinals and championship.

The NCAA Division II Tournament will be March 24-28 at the UPM Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh.
