Ty Dillon is being replaced in the No. 25 Rackley WAR Chevy in the NASCAR Truck Series, with Dawson Sutton set to take over his position effective immediately.

Dawson Sutton, who is the son of team co-owner Curtis Sutton, steps into Dillon’s shoes following his recent debut in the Truck Series. Despite being only 18 years old, Sutton has demonstrated promise, albeit with limited experience. His experience in the Truck Series includes two starts: a 28th place finish at North Wilkesboro and an 18th place finish at Nashville.

Dillon’s performance in the No. 25 Rackley WAR Chevy has been moderately underwhelming, with only two top-10 finishes recorded this season. This contrasts sharply with the accomplishments of his predecessor, Matt DiBenedetto. DiBenedetto’s stint saw seven top-10 finishes, including a win at Talladega in 2022. Following this, he qualified for the playoffs with 12 top-10s in 20 races, including two third-place finishes.

Transitioning out of his driving role, Dillon will remain with Rackley WAR in a mentor capacity for the remainder of the season. Acknowledging his abrupt exit, Dillon posted to social media:

“I am thankful to everyone at Rackley WAR for the opportunity to make my return to the Truck Series. I look forward to mentoring Dawson for the remainder of this season, and am very excited to focus on my future plans behind the wheel in 2025.”

Rackley WAR team co-owner Willie Allen also commented on the news in a press release from the team, explaining:

“We are super-thankful for the job Ty has done for us this year as our primary driver. We appreciate his willingness to take on an additional role and help Dawson grow and develop as a young driver for the remainder of the NASCAR Truck Series season. We look forward to Ty’s continued valuable input and support in the ongoing development of our race program.”
