The Quebec Remparts added a ninth jersey to the rafters yesterday, retiring Jonathan Marchessault’s #18 before a home game against the Victoriaville Tigres.
Marchessault played with the Remparts from 2007 to 2011, notching 239 points (98+141) across 254 games.

Undrafted, he’d go on to play for the Connecticut Whale, Springfield Falcons and the Syracuse Crunch before making the NHL full-time in 2015-16.
He has since gone on to put up 487 points (230+257) over 638 games in the NHL with the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers and the Vegas Golden Knights.
It was with Vegas where he broke out into stardom, becoming a 40+ goal scorer and was the 2023 playoff MVP on the Golden Knights road to winning the Stanley Cup.

It doesn’t look like he’s stopping soon either as the 33-year-old just inked a five year deal this off-season to play for the Nashville Predators.
“I’m so greatful for the organization of the Remparts to recognize me for what I’ve done in my hockey career,” Marchessault said.
Even though it was first announced that his jersey would be retired a month ago, the jersey retirement took on a whole new meaning for Marchessault recently.
“It’s extremely special right now because my mom passed away two days ago,” he said. “She would have been so proud to see her name up there, and that’s something that make me proud for her.”
The Remparts wore the retro-style away jersey sporting both Marchessault’s name and number during warmups.
Even though he hadn’t played a QMJHL game since 2011, Marchessault decided to give one last assist as he popped in to the Remparts locker room for a pre-game pep talk.
Thanks to Marchessault’s pep talk, the Remparts took down the Tigres with a final score of 5-2.
