Week 5 Football Roundup: Northmor stays atop the KMAC standings, plus more results

IBERIA — The Golden Knights took it to the defending champions of the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference.

In a Week 5 high school football game Friday night, Northmor romped to a 41-6 home victory over Danville.

Northmor quarterback A.J. Bower put up 321 passing yards on 14 of 18 completions, throwing for five touchdowns and one interception.

Cowin Becker was a dual threat, running it six times for 65 yards and a touchdown and catching it five times for 120 yards and two more scores. Jax Wenger added four catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns, while Bo Landing caught three for 88 yards and a score. Brady Carr intercepted a pass for Northmor.

The Knights (5-0, 2-0) held Danville (3-2, 1-1) to 169 yards of total offense and 10 first downs.

Highland 28, Marion Harding 9

The Scots rebounded from last week’s loss to Pleasant and picked up their first Mid Ohio Athletic Conference win of the season.

Kolton Stover led Highland (2-3, 1-1) with 271 passing yards on 13 of 28 throwing, adding two touchdowns. Zach Church ran in a touchdown and caught one, ending with seven receptions for 76 yards, while Kadyn Reichenbach made a 49-yard TD catch, and Kort Sears had two receptions for 130 yards. Sam Hernandez led the Scots with 41 rushing yards on 19 tries.

Harding (1-4, 0-2) was limited to nine yards on 19 rushes. Connor Pennington was 20-for-46 for 215 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Ray J Scott-Harbolt hauled in 12 passes for 128 yards and the team’s lone TD, while Parker Davis had three for 40 yards.

Elgin 29, Cory-Rawson 3

The Comets (3-2, 3-1) made the long road trip to Cory-Rawson (1-4, 0-4) and came away from a Northwest Central Conference victory.

Elgin’s Quinten Harrison and Jack Van Gundy were a formidable tag team as Harrison ran it 15 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns and Van Gundy had 16 carries for 103 yards and a score.

On defense, Landon Shepard paced the squad with 12 tackles, two for loss, a sack and an interception. T.J. Britton added five tackles and an interception; Van Gundy eight tackles, one for loss and a sack; Harrison six tackles; Boston Rosebrough an interception; and Drew Brown five tackles and a sack.

Upper Scioto Valley 38, Ridgedale 8

The Rams (4-1, 4-0) led 8-0 after the first quarter, then scored two touchdowns in the final six minutes of the first half of the NWCC game against visiting Ridgedale (1-4, 0-3). No other details were available.

Fredericktown 14, Mount Gilead 12

All of the scoring came in the second period as a two-point conversion pass proved to be the difference in this KMAC game. Fredericktown (3-2, 2-0) got 256 yards in the air from Blake Sipes with Brode Davis getting nine receptions for 199 yards.

For Mount Gilead (2-3, 0-2), Cam Vickers scored both touchdowns and added with 113 yards on 22 carries. Carson Trainer had 57 yards rushing on eight carries, plus two catches for 32 yards, while Carson Barnum ran it 13 times for 52 yards. Wyatt Long was 4-for-8 passing for 57 yards.

East Knox 49, Cardington 22

The Bulldogs (3-2, 2-0) led 41-6 at halftime.

For Cardington (2-3, 0-2), Wyatt Denney was a force, running for 160 yards and a 70-yard touchdown on 18 carries, while also producing 18.5 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss on defense. Kalin Briggs backed him with two touchdowns with one being an 86-yard kickoff return. Christopher Kinsey had 12 tackles with one for loss.

Urbana 24, North Union 6

The score was just 14-0 at halftime, but the Hilltoppers (5-0) ended with 364 total yards and 26 first downs for the game.

North Union (1-4) got an 84-yard touchdown pass from Nickolas Hajjar to Griffin Osborne. Osborne finished with eight receptions for 131 yards, while Hajjar was 9 of 15 passing for 121 yards. Tyler Krebehenne had seven tackles, Trevor Kyte two tackles for loss and Osborne a fumble recovery.

● Marion Harding’s Ray J Scott-Harbolt caught 12 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown in a loss to Highland.

● Mount Gilead’s Cam Vickers ran 22 times for 113 yards and both of his team’s touchdowns in a loss to Fredericktown.

● Cardington’s Kalin Briggs scored two touchdowns, including a 86-yard kickoff return in a loss to East Knox.

● North Union’s Griffin Osborne caught eight passes for 131 yards in a loss to Urbana.
