The WNBA semifinals are in full swing, and the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Aces are on the brink of elimination against the New York Liberty, while the Minnesota Lynx and Connecticut Sun are currently tied at 1-1.
The top-seeded Liberty won Game 1, 87-77, and then won Game 2, 88-84, to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series. Sabrina Ionescu has been the standout player in this series and is leading the offensive charge in the postseason with averages of 24.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and six assists. The Liberty are chasing their first-ever WNBA championship title. They have made it to the WNBA finals five times, most recently in 2023, where they lost to the Las Vegas Aces.
In the other half of the bracket, the Connecticut Sun narrowly defeated the Minnesota Lynx with a thrilling 73-70 victory in Game 1, thanks to the impressive performance of Marina Mabrey, who scored 20 points. However, the Lynx made a comeback and secured a 77-70 win in Game 2 at Target Center, leveling the series against the Sun.
